Greetings, and welcome to the web site of the Elim Christian Centre, Glossop, Derbyshire, U.K. I pray and trust this finds you well, and I bring greetings from the congregation here at Elim Christian Centre.

The events of the past few weeks, both here in the U.K. and overseas will be etched in the minds of many for a long time to come. Here in the U.K. we are coming to terms with the aftermath of ‘BREXIT’, the decision made by the British electorate to take Britain out of the E.U. This train of events has brought to a swift end the political careers of some, and have seen others suddenly take centre stage in U.K. politics. It remains to be seen the future implications of this momentous decision.

I write just a few days following the tragic events in Nice, France, in which dozens of innocent people; (including ten children), were cruelly cut down by  a crazed terrorist driving a heavy lorry. This was followed by the attempted coup in Turkey, and then by yet another incident in which Police Officers were gunned down on the streets of a major American City. As I commented on our web site in July, we are indeed living in the midst of dangerous and perilous times!

This train of events has set me thinking and has reminded me of the writings of Solomon, the King of Israel, a man renowned for his wisdom. He wrote the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes. Let me quote below some of the words that he wrote as he reflected upon the times and seasons of life:-

Solomon goes on to list many of the everyday aspects of life as we know  them stating that there is a time for each and every one of them:-

‘A TIME TO’:  To be born- To die- To plant- To pluck up what is planted- To heal-
To break down- To build- To weep- To laugh etc.!

In the midst of all of these important aspects of daily life, there are times in which we are called upon to make important decisions. The most important decision being the nature of our relationship with God our creator and His Son; The Lord Jesus Christ. In fearful and uncertain times, real peace and hope can only be found in knowing Jesus Christ personally as Saviour and Lord. The Bible reminds us that ‘Everything has its time’, but there is also the warning that ‘Today is the day of salvation’! Why not put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ today, and you will experience the peace and security that He can bring into your life.
